Class Information

At Nancy's Quilt Shop you'll find that we offer many ways for you to learn, meet new people, and participate in small groups all while doing what you love - QUILTING! Please see the quick links below to help you navigate through the various categories. As with all classes please call ahead to book your place to avoid disappointment. Classes must be paid for in full at the time of registration. Don't see what you're looking for or you aren't sure which class would best suit your needs? Give us a call, we'd be glad to point you in the right direction.

West Sound Quilters

Tucker University is a series of 12 fully designed technique classes for the Studio 180 Design Tools and Techniques by Deb Tucker. This program is intended to offer you an exciting opportunity to build your quilting skill and accuracy. In each Tucker University Class, a new Studio 180 Design tool is taught. We make 4" units that you can combine and create new blocks. The creativity is contagious!

Join us for Beginning Quilting at Nancy's Quilt Shop. Eighteen hours of instruction, over six weeks will take you from a wanna-be quilter to a very confident quilter who is not afraid to tackle almost any quilt. Even self-taught quilters who take this class have gleaned tips and tricks to hone their skill sets. You will learn how to piece nine different blocks which can be combined to make hundreds of new blocks. You will learn about fabrics, color, correct machine sewing techniques, and how to arrange the blocks with the use of sashing and borders. At the end of six weeks you will have completed your quilt top. (We recommending following this class with our Finishing Class to learn how to quilt your top and apply your binding.)

The Divide and Conquer Convergence is an easy variation that teaches you how to cut and sew curves without using templates. This improvisational and unorthodox approach is amazingly easy and will inspire experimentation.

Diamonds in the Sky is a brilliant high contrast quilt. The Corner Beam blocks used throughout the design give you an alternating diamond illusion that simply radiates beauty. Have you been afraid to make this block because of the angles involved, then find out how easy it is using the corner beam ruler. This quilt is assembled on point so you also have to opportunity to learn how to do set in triangles.

Join us for this two-part class in finishing your quilt tops. The first class will guide you through the steps to making the "sandwich" of backing, batting, and pieced top and quilting the piece on your own machine. Table runners, placemats or throw pillow size is recommended for this class. The second class teaches trimming and binding techniques for perfect bindings.

Come and learn all the best tips and tricks as well as the basics of free motion quilting. Cathy Stone will take you through the paces quilting your table runner, placemats or a small project. Students will bring in a small project they want to quilt. But in class we will practice on sandwiches. We will talk about how to make quilt sandwiches, thread colors, etc, for the main project. Students will need both walking foot and free-motion foot for their machines.

Judy Club for Judy Niemeyer UFOs. Dust off your unfinished Judy Niemeyer projects and bring them to class for assistance from Melanie Castle. Call to reserve your spot! Limited slots for maximum assistance!

We're really excited about this new seven (7) month "Technique of the Month" from Quiltworx and Judy Niemeyer. The Dinner Plate Dahlia quilt design is available to the public beginning January 1, 2019

The Sundial foundation processes were designed in 2018. This technique was designed to utilize strips in a fast, fun project that creates a dazzling 12 point medallion, reminding us of a Sundial. The quilt top is a great project for beginners, intermediate and advanced students, with all straight lined foundation strip piecing, and some very gradually curved piecing required for final assembly. It is compatible with 48-piece 2-1/2" strip sets. Patterns available through Nancy's Quilt Shop.

Let the fun begin! Join us for our community Open Sew time every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Those with Memberships will come for free. For those without memberships, the charge is $10. All are welcome!
